Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd. has entered into a license agreement with Sony Corporation to produce Professional DiscsTM for XDCAM systems and Media Storage Group will represent the XDCAM line.

XDCAM is a professional digital camera system developed by Sony. Since the introduction of the first XDCAM products in April 2003, the XDCAM format, which is based on blue-violet-laser recording onto optical discs, has become the de facto standard for news production and broadcasting throughout the world.
With the full support from Sony on the compatibility verification with XDCAM devices, MKM will start mass production of Professional Discs in the latter half of 2014.

“From CD-R discs, MKM has accumulated over twenty years of technical know-how producing recordable optical discs for digital storage media with a very good reputation for long-term storage reliability,” said Hideharu Takeshima, general manager of MKM Archival Business Development Department . “We are glad to have the opportunity to work with Sony Corporation, an industry leader in this professional field, and are convinced that we can contribute to the healthy growth of Professional Discs and related products by supplying high quality discs”

In addition to the Professional Disc format, MKM is dedicating itself to develop and manufacture a portfolio of high quality discs for archiving purposes. By engaging in this activity, MKM is contributing to the KAITEKI concept of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group in striving to provide a comfortable environment for the people, society and the earth.
